I did n't even have to wait in a queue!
I had received my renewal notice for Buildings & Contents Insurance from Policy Expert and it was still very reasonable but much of the information they had to base it on seemed to be wrong (including a suggestion that my home is now worth £400).
As usual I still insisted on doing the usual slog of the comparison websites and this year it was complicated by the potential cashback offers that I was also aware of. I wasted so many hours filling out form after form and was still getting nowhere near my Policy Expert renewal price; but would it still be the same when they had all the relevant information!
Next morning, having highlighted all the information errors, I rang Policy Expert's Customer Services number and, remarkably these days, only had to select between 2 choices on the auto answer machine and then was put straight through to Jason.
There was no endless Vivaldi's Four Seasons hold music or "Your call is important to us...." repeated every 15 seconds while your life seems to be slipping away with a phone glued to your ear.... I was speaking to a human being already.
Jason was extremely helpful, systematically correcting each piece of mis-information and was then quickly able to advise on the actual revised annual renewal premium. As it was only increasing by £6 despite all the corrections I accepted and decided to add the Home Emergency cover as well. Payment was taken from my Debit card and I'm happy to know that it is all sorted out again (until this time next year)!
