Women are better at saving money when shopping compared to men, according to a new study.
The latest research from Tesco Bank has revealed that female shoppers are savage when it comes to saving. Savvy women armed with money-off vouchers and discount codes are better at finding a bargain than men.
The research found that 60% of women will be using vouchers and discounts to save money on this year’s Christmas shop.
A further 32% are reaping in the benefits of credit card points and rewards to pay for gifts. The research also found that 45% of shoppers will wait to buy Christmas presents on store discount days.
Over half of women admit to spreading the cost of Christmas over a few weeks, buying gifts here and there, ye t only 32% of men do the same.
“Women are more financially savvy when it comes to finding ways of making their money go further this Christmas, increasingly looking to reward schemes and discount offers to help pay for Christmas presents, “ said David McCreadie, Managing Director, Banking at Tesco Bank.
Women are also more resourceful when it comes to seasonal spending as one in four claim to recycle old unwanted gifts from previous years. They are also more likely to have agreed a specific budget with family and friends for Christmas gifts.
Whilst women may be savvy with their shopping, they might also need to be savvy with their home insurance.
With so many expensive gifts round the house during this time of year, Christmas criminals could also be on prowl for finding a bargain.
In case of theft, fire, flood or an accident you may wish to review your home insurance policy to ensure that your new and expensive gifts are covered.
