It’s that time again. The 2012 Summer Olympics are upon us, and if you live in London you might be feeling as though that metaphor is literal right about now, as the weight of thousands of visitors presses down on you in the crowded streets and throughout the Underground.
To learn more about the British reaction to all of the Olympic hustle and bustle, we surveyed scores of Brits to hear what they had to say about the myriad of social and economic impacts they expect to see as a result of the Games. We learned that men are more likely to be antipathetic about the Olympics than women, that the vast majority of Brits will be tuning in to watch the events on TV from the comfort of their homes, and that most Londoners are excited about the boost for local business. Thought the whole thing was amazing made me feel very proud.
Exceptionally well run and presented and despite some of the foreboding about some aspects before hand it went off very well and the organisers are to be congratulated. Would all the praise have been as good had Team GB not done so well is a point worth considering. I was disappointed in not getting tickets but maybe I should have gone for lesser wll known sports.
The Government must put more money into grassroot sport. There are too many facilities which are still underutilised.
Thoroughly enjoyed the olympics and made me proud we did it so well. It was money well spent and if we can cash in on what took place we should make progress over the next year or two. Most other countries have enjoyed it as well and we must make capital out of it while we are favoured.
